Sky Sports update on Arnaud Kalimuendo could open door to major Leeds United transfer
Leeds United could have had the door opened for them to secure the blockbuster signing of Paris Saint-Germain forward Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer.
Sky Sports have reported that the French giants are looking to secure a deal for Reims wonderkid Hugo Ekitike, with Newcastle seemingly getting frustrated over that transfer.
It is suggested that should Ekitike move to Paris, it could pave the way for Kalimuendo to pack his bags and leave after two successful years at Lens with numerous Premier League clubs interested.
Writing in their live blog this afternoon (23 June), Sky Sports shared news from a source that could open the door to many different deals this summer.
“One source has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the France U21 International and that other clubs are keen too,” they wrote.
“If PSG move for Ekitike, it could pave the way for Arnaud Kalimuendo to leave the club.
“A number of Premier League clubs scouted Kalimuendo last season when he was on loan at Lens.”
Get it done.
Victor Orta will be watching this very closely and will be rubbing his hands together.
The Independent have already reported in June that Leeds have bid £17.1million for the young wonder, with final third reinforcements desperately needed at Elland Road.
That doesn’t look to have been successful and PSG could be waiting to see what happens with a proposed move for Ekitike before making their mind up on this one.
Orta has been on overdrive so far in this current window, with Jesse Marsch no doubt delighted with how his squad is starting to look ahead of pre-season starting again.
With three new signings already through the door, it could soon become four before the likes of Raphinha have even left the club, with that still expected to happen.
The door could be about to be opened for Kalimuendo, and it is down to Leeds and Orta to make sure they are first through it to get this over the line ahead of the competition.
