Signing Florian Grillitsch will be perfect for Leeds United
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch in the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old is highly rated and has some admirers in the Bundesliga including current Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.
After barely scraping their Premier League status on the final Premier League week, the Whites have already been active in the market by signing long-term target Brenden Aaronson to strengthen the squad for the next campaign.
Grillitsch played 18 matches in the 2021-22 campaign for Hoffenheim and missed a majority of the season due to a muscle injury.
He is out of contract in the summer of 2022 and therefore, signing him for free makes a lot of sense for the Whites.
Perfect match
It has been reported that the Grillitsch signing may be depending on the future of Kalvin Phillips who has been attracting interest from the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
However, Leeds United are confident of making their English star stay and form an ideal midfield partnership with the Austria international.
Grillitsch is a commanding midfielder who can also occupy the role of central defender. Based on his defensive capabilities, he can prove to be the shield that Leeds were missing during the majority of the last season.
When Leeds comes up against the top 6 teams, they usually become outnumbered in the middle of the park and Grillitsch would surely fill that hole and make the side more competitive.
Grillitsch joined Hoffenheim in the summer of 2017 from Werder Bremen on a free transfer and will leave the club after making 151 matches across all competitions, scoring eight times and providing 11 assists.
