Spanish outlet Fichajes seems to have an anti-Leeds United agenda on the go at the moment.

They’ve just published a second story claiming that Rodrigo isn’t happy at the club after his summer move and its contents will have Leeds fans fretting.

In a report published at the start of March, they called his move to Leeds ‘disastrous’ because of his low goal return.

They completely failed to talk about the fact that he’s been injured for a lot of the season.

Now they’re back and they’ve ramped up the rhetoric this time.

The latest report (via Sport Witness) claims that he’s “not comfortable” living in England and doesn’t see himself as a “relevant” player under Marcelo Bielsa.

It says that he wants to leave and go back to Spain ahead of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

Leeds United

Is there anything in it?

Without hearing from Rodrigo himself, it’s impossible to know.

It’s not been the best season for the Spain international and it’s culminated in him missing out on the Spain squad just ahead of the Euros.

However, that’s because of fitness issues that have seen him injured and test positive for Covid.

He has shown in flashes the brilliance we know he’s got (we’re thinking the Aston Villa game) but he’s also had to contend with playing in a new position.

Rodrigo has acknowledged the fact that it’s been a difficult year, saying to AS, “At first I had to adapt and it was difficult for me to get into the team.

“When I did, I caught COVID, two weeks totally stopped, and when I got back into the rhythm, I got injured and I haven’t been able to play for a month.

“In this context, I am happy with the displays in the 19 games that I have put in but the fact that my season was disrupted has prevented me from reaching greater heights.”

He went on to say that the lack of goals has hurt his international chances.

We’d like to dismiss the worrying claims as nonsense, and the fact they’ve only been made in Fichajes makes that easier to do.

However, you’ve only got to look at Raphinha to see what we should be getting from Rodrigo.

Perhaps next season will be his time to shine for Leeds but if he doesn’t get starts between now and the end of the season, questions will get louder and we might have to admit that something is up.
