New Leeds United predicted XI v Newcastle after Marcelo Bielsa shares crushing injury reveal
Marcelo Bielsa is predicted to make two changes to the Leeds United starting line-up on Saturday when his side welcomes Newcastle United to Elland Road.
Ahead of the Premier League clash, in which the Whites will be aiming to win a third consecutive league game, Bielsa confirmed [20 January] that he would be without Patrick Bamford, Sam Greenwood, Junior Firpo and Adam Forshaw due to injuries.
Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswell are longer-term absentees but in more positive news, Tyler Roberts, Joe Gelhardt, Rodrigo and Diego Llorente are all available again.
We predict that Llorente will go straight back into the starting line-up to replace Firpo, meaning that Stuart Dallas can go to left-back and Luke Ayling to right-back.
In the second change, Rodrigo may be called upon to start for the first time since the win over Crystal Palace on November 30. He’s predicted to replace the injured Forshaw.
Illan Meslier is likely to start in goals again with a back-four of Ayling, Llorente, Pascal Struijk and Dallas in front of him.
Robin Koch is predicted to start in the holding midfield role with Phillips and Forshaw out while Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo are expected to play in the more advanced roles ahead of him.
Leeds’ attack is set to be unchanged due to the new injury blow to Bamford.
Raphinha could start on the right with Jack Harrison on the left again after his hat-trick at West Ham on Sunday.
Daniel James is predicted to start up front.
In other Leeds United news, Leeds have been told to pay over £6million to sign a “terrific” player who’s been tipped to move on.
