Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to a report on Kalvin Phillips’ international future.
According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, the Whites midfielder is the subject of “shock interest” from the Jamaican national team, who he qualifies to represent.
The reporter shared the update via his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning, and it provoked more than a little conversation among supporters.
Leeds. Shock interest in Kalvin Phillips … from Jamaica. Qualifies for them. Official contact made. Keen to build a team round him for next World Cup.

For some, any kind of interest in Phillips is enough to cause panic, before a closer inspection made it clear that he isn’t at the heart of a summer transfer wrangle.
But once that fleeting dread had passed, the general consensus seemed to be that Phillips should turn down Jamaica and bide his time for an England call-up.
And we absolutely agree.
As recently as June, Gareth Southgate was mentioning both Phillips and Ben White as potential candidates for next year’s European Championship squad, and now that Leeds are in the Premier League, you would expect Phillips’ star to rise further.
Sky Sports pundits Andy Hinchcliffe and Harry Kewell have already argued that he deserves his shot in the national team, and if he keeps up the level of performance we have seen from him over the past couple of years, it will become increasingly hard to disagree with them.
Southgate will surely know this too, and if Jamaica are serious about their interest in the player – and why on earth wouldn’t they be? – then don’t be surprised to see him given a nod for the Three Lions sooner rather than later so that his future is secured.
Here are some of the best tweet from Leeds United supporters:
3 years ago Phillips would have jumped at the chance to represent Jamaica as he appeared to have no chance of playing for England.
My advice to Kalvin would be to wait 6 months to see if he can hack the prem league (I think he can) as if so his England changes will be high.

Begs the question, why has it taken Jamaica so long to get in touch? 🤔 Has their CDM who is better than Kalvin Phillips just retired..? Here's hoping he waits for the call from Southgate

@England The metronomic answer, perfected by the beat coach on the planet, to the weakest position in the England team, and now considering his options elsewhere… think Southgate needs to get him that cap PDQ. https://t.co/jBWZaImEqL https://t.co/XHHLfnSAri
