MOT View: Youngster to replace Klich next week? - Three things learned about Leeds win v Blues
Marcelo Bielsa’s men put Leeds United fans through the motions on Sunday as they earned a last-gasp 5-4 win against Birmingham to move to go top of the Championship standings.
West Brom’s 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough meant that a victory for the Whites was enough to see them take top spot going into the New Year.
Birmingham put up a great fight against Leeds but in the end, Wes Harding’s own goal in stoppage time was enough for the Yorkshire club to pick up all three points.
Here, MOT Leeds News has rounded up three things learned about Leeds on Sunday:
- Defence is becoming a serious concern
Leeds’ defence looked so solid just a few weeks ago but Bielsa has now seen his side concede 10 goals in four games. Leeds no longer boast the best defensive record in the league as Brentford have also conceded the same number goals as them [20]. Liam Cooper’s return from injury should have sorted this out but the same issues remain. Kiko Casilla’s dodgy goalkeeping is the main problem though. The Spaniard is costing Leeds goals at the moment.
2. Roberts to start v West Brom?

Leeds’ central midfield options have been very sparse in the last couple of months but Tyler Roberts finally returned from injury when he came off the bench at St Andrew’s on Sunday. Mateusz Klich’s form has been a worry in recent weeks and the Polish midfielder could do with a rest. Maybe 20-yer-old Roberts should start against his former club on New Year’s Day? The Wales international impressed against the Baggies last season, so why not see if the youngster can do it again?
3. Harrison stands out yet again
Harrison was a very widely-criticised player last season for Leeds and many viewed the on-loan winger as a bit of a scapegoat. However this campaign he has cranked up his performances to the next level and was the best player on the pitch at St Andrew’s. He scored and supplied an assist for the Whites while also completing two key passes and two tackles [WhoScored]. He patrolled the left flank brilliantly.
In other Leeds United news, fans have blasted Andrea Radrizzani for one of his tweets.
