MOT View: Sky Sports pundit praise on Leeds ace highlights Hernandez blow could be softened

Last season, a number of injuries began to mount up and it could have ultimately cost Leeds United in their run for promotion.

So when a number of players started to pick up problems in this campaign, fans could have started to worry at Elland Road.

It was confirmed by Marcelo Bielsa in his pre-match press conference that the Welsh international was ready to return against Preston on Boxing Day along with midfielder Jamie Shackleton.

Danny Mills has recently sung the praises of Roberts, claiming that Marcelo Bielsa is lucky to have a player that can play in numerous positions, especially in the system that Leeds play.

“Yeah, I think you need players like that in this day and age who can play a multitude of different positions,” the Sky Sports pundit told Football Insider.

“On the pitch, you have to be athletes and the fact he has size and strength on his side, it’s obviously a massive bonus.”

Roberts return from injury couldn’t have come at a better time for the Whites with Pablo Hernandez limping off in the 2-1 defeat against Fulham recently.

Bielsa confirmed that the Spaniard will be missing for at least one month at Elland Road with that hamstring problem.

Either way, losing someone with the influence that Hernandez has for the Whites will be massive. Roberts is coming back from his own setback which could make it hard for him to hit the ground running.

Having another attacking option available will certainly soften the blow though, and Mills’ praise could highlight that for Leeds.
