MOT View: Seriously good news for Leeds as Smyth details White recall clause

We’ve talked a lot about how good Ben White has been for Leeds United. And some fans are already talking about him as player of the season

If you want a visual nudge as to just how good he’s been, check out his radar from a StatsBomb article about the potential breakout stars of the Championship this season. That’s a really, really impressive graphic.

Naturally, it’s led to concern that he might be recalled in January, similarly to how Harvey Barnes was taken back from West Brom by Leicester last season.

However, on that front, there’s some very good news from Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.

He claims any recall clause has to be agreed in advance and the only one in the White deal is connected to how many games he plays.

White has played every single Championship game so far this season and the YEP have quoted a source as saying, “There is no chance at all of a recall, which is good news for Leeds fans.”

That’s an early Christmas present.

The other key loan player is Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and the situation is a bit less clear here.

Nketiah hasn’t started a league game and cruelly picked up an injury ahead of the QPR game after Marcelo Bielsa had earmarked him for his first full Championship game.

He’s out until December and hasn’t played as much as Arsenal would have wanted him to according to Phil Hay at the Athletic.

He could be a critical figure for Leeds in the second half of the season but whether he stays could now be out of our hands.

Hopefully, Arsenal will seek and get assurances about game-time in the second-half of the season and Nkeitah will stay and help push Leeds towards automatic promotion.

If he goes Leeds might be forced back into the transfer market in January.
