MOT View: 'Ready physically' - Ezgjan Alioski could have put end to Leeds injury worries

Leeds United defender Ezgjan Alioski has enjoyed a rollercoaster week during the past international break.

It started with the 28-year-old helping North Macedonia to their first-ever European Championships, with a win over Georgia.

Alioski returned to Elland Road early after that, though, with fears over a tight hamstring, which could have ruled him for the foreseeable.

Marcelo Bielsa failed to mention Alioski in his latest press-conference though, leading to suggestions that he could have recovered in time.

The Leeds full-back could have delivered a big hint over his fitness in an interview before the game against Arsenal, claiming the Whites squad is “ready physically.”

“We can surprise every team,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. “We are strong and ready to do this. Even against Arsenal, who we know are a big team.

“We don’t forget that we play good football. We are ready physically and we need to show this on the pitch with more concentration and focus.”

Alioski was pictured in an LUTV training video on Friday, not involved and instead greeting coaching staff, which could have suggested he wasn’t ready.

It would be great to have Alioski available.

Even if he isn’t starting, it is a massive boost to have someone with the energy that Gjanni has in the squad and on the bench ready to come on.

Bielsa has used the Macedonian at full-back, on the wing and in the centre of midfield and that versatility is always well received at Elland Road.

Alioski attempted 95 actions against Crystal Palace, and completed 77% of them according to WyScout, as he was everywhere in the defeat.

The 28-year-old wouldn’t be likely to start, but he would be great to have around this weekend in a tough clash with the Gunners.
