Jack Clarke is edging ever closer to a permanent move to Tottenham after his breakthrough season at Elland Road put him on the radar of the Premier League giants.

Leeds fans have been largely accepting of the move, accepting that the club needs to sell in order to strengthen this summer.

There’s an acknowledgment that the club needs to bring in new players to win promotion and fans don’t want to see pivotal players like Kalvin Phillips leaving.

There was always a hope that Tottenham would loan Clarke back for the season, although this seemed a forlorn one with Mauricio Pochettino rarely loaning his key players out.

However, former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay has just delivered some news that will excite Leeds fans, saying: “Interesting – hearing that Jack Clarke will rejoin Leeds United on loan after he signs for Tottenham tomorrow.

If that proves to be true, owner Andrea Radrizzani will have sealed an absolutely brilliant bit of business for Leeds.

Hay previously claimed the upfront fee would be £10m with talk of add-ons that could take it up to £13m.

With today’s Premier League loan fees, getting Clarke back on loan could easily save another £1m that the club can use to bring another big name in.

More importantly, it will mean Clarke will have a full pre-season with Marcelo Bielsa where he can continue to develop and hopefully make more of a consistent impact than he did last season.

The deal is set to be concluded on Monday and if it goes through like Hay thinks, Leeds fans will be singing Radrizzani’s name from the rooftops again.
