MOT View: Fantastic news for Leeds as Potter comments on Ben White loan

Great news for Leeds United fans has come from Brighton manager Graham Potter, who has seemingly slammed the door shut on the last possible exit route for Ben White this January.

The centre-back, who arrived on a season-long loan, has been a standout player for Marcelo Bielsa this season, playing every single game of the campaign so far and helping to make the Leeds defence the best in the entire EFL.

Potter had already said that both he and Brighton were delighted with how the loan deal was working out for White.

That just left the possibility that a club might come in and try and buy him in January, with Liverpool and Man United linked.

However, Potter has now ruled that out, saying that White is a Brighton player and they will assess what to do with him at the end of the season.

Talking ahead of his club’s game against Leicester, Potter said (as quoted by the Mirror), “There’s all sorts of talk as we know, but the reality is he’s our player and has a future here.

“He’s on loan now at Leeds and having a positive experience, and we’re delighted with that.

“He’s having a good time at Leeds, so we’ll assess at the end of the season to see what the best thing is going forward.”

That’s the good news, but Potter did drop in one snippet that Leeds fans won’t like so much, saying, “We want to see him playing for Brighton in future.”

Brighton are well covered at centre-back, with Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Adam Webster – and all three have plenty of years left in them.

As for White, he’s excelled in the Championship, but Brighton will know that his value will soar if he can do the same at Premier League level.

The hope for Leeds is that we get promoted this season and Brighton decide they’re happy to let him stay for another season at Elland Road.
