MOT View: Leeds surely set to miss out on reported target as C'Ship make contract move

Leeds United and Carlos Corberan always have their eye on some young prospects to bring into their academies.

It was reported recently that the Whites were targeting a move for Birmingham City sensation Adan George alongside Premier League duo Brighton and Tottenham [Birmingham Mail].

According to the report, Leeds were present to watch George against Wigan in the FA Youth Cup back in February and were impressed.

Well, it appears like that interest could come to nothing for the Whites, with their Championship rivals having placed a contract offer on the table to secure the youngsters’ services.

The Birmingham Mail has reported on Wednesday that the 18-year-old has been offered a new two-year deal with an option for an extra year at St Andrew’s.

It appears like Birmingham are ready to fast track George into their first-team squad, something that most likely wouldn’t happen at Thorp Arch.

Marcelo Bielsa likes his younger players to prove themselves in the under-23s before making the step up to the table-topping side – something he keeps a real close eye on.

Birmingham would most likely need to have made assurances in this new deal that the likes of Leeds, Brighton and Spurs can not make to young upcoming prospect at this moment.

Leeds are surely set to miss out on George, although it wouldn’t be the end of the world with players such as Ryan Edmondson and Bobby Kamwa offering stiff competition in the academy.
