MOT View: Leeds-born centre-mid who's reportedly impressed Bielsa should be Whites summer target

Leeds United have completed their business for the January transfer window but some might be disappointed to see that no new central midfielders have been signed.

One centre-mid who was linked with Leeds before the window opened was Reading star Andy Rinomhota after Football Insider reported that Marcelo Bielsa had been impressed by the 22-year-old.

Rinomhota, who was born in Leeds, has been a regular for Reading this season, appearing 29 times across all competitions.

Football Insider reported last month that the midfielder had blown Bielsa away with his display against the Whites in the Championship and wanted to sign him in either January or the summer.

However, after clearly not signing Rinomhota in January, he should be someone who Leeds keep on their radar until the summer – if they get promoted or not.

Not only could Leeds do with adding some strength in depth to their central midfield options, Rinomhota has been a solid player for Reading. Plus, given his age, there is room for him to improve in the future and Bielsa is great at getting the best out of young midfielders.

According to stats by WhoScored, Rinomhota [83.8%] has a higher pass completion in the Championship this season than Kalvin Phillips [81.4%].

Rinomhota [06.] has also averaged more dribbles per game than the Leeds midfielder [0.4] and has had fewer bad touches.

If Bielsa can get his hands on the Reading midfielder, train him for an entire pre-season, then you can guarantee he’ll be a sound summer investment for the Yorkshire giants.
