MOT View: Kalvin Phillips drops selection hint for England clash v Denmark

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has split opinion since breaking onto the international stage with England.

Many fans of other clubs have slated the Yorkshire Pirlo, claiming that he isn’t good enough to make it for the Three Lions.

Unsurprisingly, Leeds fans have backed up their main man and the stats also prove that Phillips has made a great impact under Gareth Southgate.

Phillips started the 3-0 victory against Wales last week and came on for a second-half cameo against Belgium on Sunday – the best-ranked side in the world.

After not starting that clash, there is every chance that the 24-year-old could come into the side for the Nations League game against Denmark on Wednesday.

The Leeds player may have dropped a hint that he could be starting against the Danes on his personal Instagram account.

Captioned “Let’s do it all over again tomorrow” – Phillips shared a video of the highlights from his start against Wales.

There were no highlights of the Belgium game in there, so the caption would suggest that he is ready to start against Denmark.

Phillips became the first Leeds player to represent England since 2004 in the reverse fixture last month and proved he could impress against that opposition.

The midfielder completed six interceptions and 71% of his total actions were successful according to WyScout – not bad for a debut against the likes of Christian Eriksen.

This week hasn’t been kind to Leeds though, with Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente picking up injuries – something that can’t happen to Phillips.
