Leeds United forward Jean-Kevin Augustin is in excellent physical condition after arriving on loan from RB Leipzig, according to Football Insider.
It is suggested that the Frenchman is closing in on the fitness levels that are insisted on by Marcelo Bielsa after nearly a month at the club.
According to the report, Augustin has been completing extensive training regimes with conditioning staff at Thorp Arch away from the main squad to get him up to speed.
It is reported that the 22-year-old is in ‘excellent nick’ having made superb progress in training – something which has resulted in him coming off the bench in games against Nottingham Forest and Brentford recently.
Augustin has also started two under-23s games in the past couple of weeks, with the colossal forward surely closing in on his first start for the club.
It won’t come against Bristol City on Saturday, with Bielsa already confirming that Patrick Bamford will lead the line at Elland Road.
Bamford has been struggling recently, and with this latest update, he could be running out of chances to prove himself in the final third.
The 26-year-old hasn’t scored since the win against Millwall and has averaged 3.5 shots on goal per game according to WhoScored. He should be scoring much more frequently given how many chances he gets in each outing.
What is more worrying, is that those chances for Bamford have dried up recently – he only had three shots on goal in the past two games.
With Augustin closing in on full fitness, Bamford will need to start finding the back of the net, and if he doesn’t, the Frenchman will be nearing a first start for the club.
