MOT View: Jake Humphrey shares what he's been told by PL players and it's amazing news for Leeds

If the information that Jake Humphrey has received is correct, Leeds United could be on their way back to the Premier League.

According to the Telegraph, there is a possibility that the Leeds and West Brom could be handed promotion from the Championship to feature in a 22-team Premier League next season.

The current Premier League and EFL campaign is currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and although the return date is set at April 3, it does not seem likely that there will be any football played from then on.

It has sparked a lot of debate about what should happen with this season. Should it be null and voided? Should it end with everyone in their current positions? Or should they attempt to end the season somehow?

However it seems as though the prospect of a 22-team Premier League is growing increasingly likely with BT Sport host Humphrey sharing what he’s heard from more than one top-flight player.

“I’ve been told by more than 1 current PL player that a 22-team PL season has been talked about for next season,” he said via his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

This, of course, would be amazing news for Leeds as it would see them handed the promotion to the Premier League they deserve.

As it stands, the Whites are top of the Championship and seven points clear of third.

Them and West Brom have occupied the top-two places almost all season and it seems that the fairest course of action would be to promote them both.

It’s bound to upset the likes of Fulham, Nottingham Forest and so on because they can still mathematically win automatic promotion.

But this idea of a 22-team Premier League, with no clubs being relegated this season and five relegated next season, seems one of the fairer options than is also manageable.

In other Leeds United news, Leeds are hot on the heels of this English striker.
