Leeds United fans have been getting excited about young forwards Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, but there’s another attacker in the Under-23s who really turned heads this week.
Crysencio Summerville made his return to the Under-23s for the game against Burnley and he was on fire, scoring an explosive hat-trick in the 4-1 win.
Summerville took a step back when he signed for Leeds for a sum reported to be £1m, after spending the 19/20 season playing first-team football in the Eredivisie, where he was involved in five goals in 21 appearances.
Dutch outlet De Telegraaf (via Sport Witness) claimed that had he stayed he would have had a chance of breaking into the Feyenoord first team.
However, he was lured by the promise of the Premier League and Marcelo Bielsa.
It’s not been the easiest of starts at Leeds. Monday’s hat-trick against Burnley came in just his fourth Under-23s appearance and second start in the Premier League 2.
Injuries have stopped him from getting a proper run in the Under-23s but on Monday’s evidence, he’s now ready to make his mark.
Cup games have shown that it’s a huge jump up from the Under-23s to the first team.
However, Summerville already has that all-important first-team experience.
And his second goal in the 4-1 win against Burnley shows that he’s already a big level above a lot of players at Premier League 2 level.
Picking the ball up from a long pass from Charlie Cresswell, Summerville played a lovely give-and-go with Liam McCarron before a one-two with Bobby Kamwa and a small feint in the box left the keeper stranded.

The explosive footage shows Summerville’s attacking intent, vision and his ability to use his passing and his body to create a goal from nothing.
We’ve got very high hopes for Summerville and would love to see him get his chance in the first-team squad.
