Dean Smith has urged Aston Villa to replicate Leeds United in the Premier League as they prepare to face Manchester City.
The Whites pulled off a miraculous 2-1 victory at The Etihad over the weekend, with Marcelo Bielsa’s game plan coming off perfectly.
Villa have been one of our biggest rivals since El Loco arrived in West Yorkshire, and that has seen plenty of digs come his way, including those from Smith himself.
Speaking to the Express and Star, Smith admitted it was “crazy” how the Whites left Manchester with three points and is using that as motivation.
“Leeds have gone there and beat them with only two shots on goal,” he said.
“It just shows you how crazy football can be. We have a great belief in our team.”
After they were being tipped for European football this season, Villa have since dropped off terribly and most of that falls at the feet of Jack Grealish being injured.
The midlands side are so reliant on their captain, and even find themselves sitting behind us in the table, and we can only sit back and laugh now.
It all stems from Mateusz Klich’s goal in the Championship a couple of seasons ago, with Smith still crying about that to this day moving forward.
Anything his Villa side do, Smith has to come out and claim it is different to what is happening at Elland Road, but now, it has all changed.
We love the fact that it is the mighty Whites that teams such as Villa are looking to replicate in the Premier League, it’s as though we have a genius in charge pulling the strings.
