MOT View: Berardi to start – Predicted Leeds starting XI v Huddersfield
There’s one big question for Marcelo Bielsa to answer ahead of the Championship clash between Leeds United and Huddersfield on Saturday.
Who will replace Kalvin Phillips after the defensive midfielder was given his fifth yellow of the season against Middlesbrough?
We think it’s going to be Ben White.
Bielsa has played a back three to great effect recently but with Huddersfield playing one up front, he could well revert to his more familiar 4-1-4-1.
That would see Stuart Dallas at left-back, Gaetano Berardi coming in to partner Liam Cooper in the centre of defence and Luke Ayling out right.
White played the last few minutes of the game against Boro in the holding midfield position and we think he’ll step up and prove his worth on Saturday.
White definitely has the calm, the poise and the football skills to play the position but there will be extra pressure on the 22-year-old loanee.
Jack Harrison and Helder Costa should take the wing spots even if Tyler Roberts is fit. Pablo Hernandez and Mateusz Klich will provide the threat from the centre and Patrick Bamford will lead the line.
Eddie Nketiah is fit again but he’ll be on the bench looking for the chance to make an impact later on in the game.
The game is live on Sky Sports in the UK on Saturday with a 12.30pm kick-off. Leeds are looking to make it six wins in a row and move back to the top of the Championship.
