MOT View: BBC pundit surely stating the obvious with Leeds claim ahead of January
This season couldn’t have gone much worse for Leeds United loanee Jack Clarke.
It started off perfectly for the youngster, who sealed a big-money move to Tottenham before being loaned back to his boyhood club to help their promotion push.
That has seen the youngster complete only 19 minutes of action in the Championship, and pushed back into the under-23s to work under Carlos Corberan.
Noel Whelan was recently asked if we had seen the last of Clarke in a Leeds shirt, and the BBC pundit’s answer was straight-forward enough.
“Yeah, I do. It’s been on the cards, it’s been coming,” he told Football Insider.
“We’ve not seen anything of Jack Clarke this season. When we have seen Jack Clarke come on he’s not really done anything.
“The talks with Jose Mourinho won’t be about joining the first team, he’s not ready, simple as that. Tottenham need a better quality of player right now.
“He was brilliant when he broke through last season but he’s got a lot of learning to do and he’s not been getting time to do that at Leeds either.”
Whelan is just stating the obvious with his answer, as it is quite clear that Clarke hasn’t been favoured by Marcelo Bielsa. The 19-year-old hasn’t even completed a single half of Championship action this season.
Jordan Stevens was preferred to the Tottenham loanee against Fulham on Saturday, and that was most likely the final nail in the coffin for Clarke who is bound to move back to London next month.
