Leeds United under-23s eased to another victory on Sunday afternoon as they swept aside Norwich City 2-0 at Thorp Arch.

It was no surprise given Mark Jackson’s starting XI, which actually included six senior players against the Canaries.

Pablo Hernandez and summer signing Raphinha were the standout names, with the Brazilian even scoring his first goal for the club since arriving.

The standout performer at Thorp Arch though was Ian Poveda.

Poveda has been superb since promotion to the Premier League, and he even got the approval of Pep Guardiola after his cameo against Manchester City.

The 20-year-old continues to impress whenever he features for the Whites, and he was phenomenal against the Canaries – scoring with nearly his first touch of the ball.

After great work from Hernandez and Tyler Roberts, the young winger kept his composure to smash home under great pressure.

As mentioned previously, Poveda’s standout performance came against his former club, Manchester City at the beginning of this month.

The 20-year-old completed two dribbles and delivered a single key pass according to WhoScored, as he tormented Benjamin Mendy.

Poveda certainly sent a message to Marcelo Bielsa with this latest performance against Norwich, even it was for the under-23s.

Bielsa keeps a close eye on these games, and Poveda was simply untouchable, gliding past defenders with ease nearly every time he was on the ball.

Competition may be strong out wide at Elland Road, but Poveda is clearly not one to forget about as he once again impresses.
