It’s been fairly quiet at Leeds United since the club was promoted back to the Premier League but that’s all set to change in the next week.
Leeds fans want some big news and we think that’s just around the corner – these are the three things that we predict will happen this week at Elland Road.
- Bielsa will sign his new contract
It’s scary to think that Marcelo Bielsa is currently out of contract. Officially, Leeds don’t have a manager at the moment. If the manager was anyone else but Bielsa we’d be very worried. As it is, we’re weirdly calm and we’re convinced that Bielsa will sign a new one-year deal in the next few days. The Leeds players are back at Thorp Arch for the start of preseason on Wednesday and we don’t see any way in which Bielsa isn’t signed and sealed by then. It’s the mega-deal all Leeds fans want and it’s going to happen. Look out for a tweet with white smoke on it from the official Leeds United Twitter account. And then light that cigar.
- Three stripes unveiled
What are Leeds going to look like in the Premier League? We sort of know the answer to this already as we’ve seen the leaked kits and we’ve been told by various sources close to the club that they’re pretty accurate representations of the home and away kits Leeds will be wearing. The blue and green striped kit hasn’t gone down well with everyone but we like it. A camera crew has been spotted outside Elland Road and they were there to film the kit reveal. The Adidas announcement could come at any point now but we think Leeds are going to go for a huge week of staggered announcements, with the kit coming first on Monday.
- Joe Gelhardt will become the third summer signing
Leeds have already done deals for Helder Costa and Illan Meslier, and Jack Harrison confirmed himself that he’d be signing in an ESPN interview during the play-off final. He might well be announced shortly but if not then Wigan striker Joe Gelhardt will likely be the third summer signing for Leeds. The forward has been linked very strongly with Leeds and Wigan need to sell players are their relegation was confirmed following an unsuccessful appeal against a 12-point penalty.
