Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on Leif Davis inclusion in Marcelo Bielsa’s starting XI for the preseason friendly against Stoke City on Tuesday afternoon.

The Whites were operating with a skeleton crew against the Potters due to the current international break, and could only name four substitutes on the bench.

On the face of it, that left Bielsa with a slightly unorthodox defensive lineup that included both Davis and Barry Douglas – both of who generally operate at left-back.

After some initial confusion from supporters, it became apparent that the youngster would be lining up in the heart of defence alongside Oliver Casey.

And while that may be a relatively alien position for the 20-year-old, it is one that he has actually fulfilled before.

In fact, Davis played there twice in the Carabao Cup last year, including once in the 2-2 draw against Stoke, as per Wyscout.

Obviously, in his seven career Championship appearances we have almost exclusively seen him play on the left flank, but we all know how much Bielsa appreciates a versatile talent.

If Davis can come into the side and excel at centre-back, all he’s going to do is further win over the Argentine, as well as doubling his chances of senior game time.
