Leeds United star Rodrigo can reignite his Elland Road career
Leeds United star Rodrigo has not had the easiest of times at Elland Road since he arrived in 2020.
In 33 games, he has scored seven goals and provided two assists, but injuries and Covid have disrupted his time with the Whites so far.
He has struggled with finding a place in Marcelo Bielsa’s side, and this season, before the Newcastle United game, he had played 163 minutes for the Whites.
However, he was brilliant on Friday night against the Toon.
Rodrigo contributed to the first goal as he dummied the cross from Raphinha, which deceived Karl Darlow [Sky Sports’ YouTube].
Of course, this doesn’t go down as an assist, but it was the main reason why the ball ended up in the net.
Jamie Carragher described Rodrigo as “outstanding” during commentary on Sky Sports, and the statistics show just how good he was [Sky Sports].
He had three shots, with one on target and also provided three key passes, which was the joint-most in the Leeds side [WhoScored].
He also completed two dribbles and completed four accurate long balls.
So, it is very clear that the 30-year-old was impressive against Newcastle, and we hope that he can use this performance to push on and reignite his career at Elland Road.
This was a fantastic display, and it had everything but a goal, and if he can replicate these displays going forward, then Leeds might finally see the best of Rodrigo.
