Leeds United signing could be imminent as Victor Orta spotted jetting out of UK

Leeds United fans will be buzzing after Victor Orta was spotted in Manchester Airport during the summer transfer window on Thursday 16.

Typically, when a sporting director is flying overseas this time of year, a signing is being worked on.

The Elland road chief wouldn’t waste his time flying to another country if a deal wasn’t in the crucial stages which hopefully means a new player at Elland Road is imminent.

Some could argue that he is simply going on holiday but this is the time of year for the players to be taking a break – not such an important member of the back room staff.

Over the next couple of months, ahead of the 2022/23 season, Orta will be at his busiest as he looks to provide Jesse Marsch with the right players he needs to make the Whites a success in the next campaign.

Rebuild.

One thing was clear after the 2021/22 relegation crisis at Elland Road – Leeds United are in desperate need of a rebuild.

Last summer, the fans were somewhat concerned after the west Yorkshire club failed to strengthen their squad to the level which they believed it needed to be.

Their scintillating first season back in the Premier League did give some hope things would be okay but they have since been taught a very valuable lesson.

To stay in the top flight, you must continuously improve and hopefully, the Whites do exactly that this summer – especially with their star men facing increasingly uncertain futures ahead of the next campaign.

Last season was bad enough as Marcelo Bielsa and Marsch were forced to put their faith in teenagers amid a mass injury crisis at Elland Road.

They have already made some ground with the signings of Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen but there is a lot more work to be done given how bad of a shape this squad was in last season.

Hopefully, Orta is in the midst of bringing in another new player.
