Leeds United predicted XI after Marcelo Bielsa team news update
Marcelo Bielsa is predicted to start Junior Firpo and Jamie Shackleton after suggesting they could both be available to play for Leeds United on Sunday.
Leeds welcome Leicester to Elland Road for their next Premier League match but will still be without Luke Ayling, Robin Koch and star striker Patrick Bamford.
Speaking in his press conference on Friday, as quoted by LeedsLive, Bielsa ruled those three players out of the clash against Leicester but said that Firpo could make his first appearance in over a month while Shackleton is also in contention.
Both players sound as though they face late fitness tests to be ready to play the Foxes but if they do, both of them could start in the two full-back slots.
That means that Bielsa could make two changes to his starting line-up versus Brendan Rodgers’ side, with Firpo replacing Pascal Struijk and Mateusz Klich coming in to replace out-of-sorts Jack Harrison.
Illan Meslier is predicted to start in goals behind a back-four of Shackleton, Diego Llorente, Liam Cooper and Firpo.
Firpo’s return to the side means that Stuart Dallas can move into the midfield to play in the middle with Kalvin Phillips and Klich, who could also be handed a start.
As a result, Harrison may find himself axed by Bielsa with the ex-Manchester City winger struggling for form and carrying a rib injury [Phil Hay].
Raphinha and Daniel James could start on the two wings with Rodrigo retaining his spot up front as he looks to continue his goalscoring form as of late.
In other Leeds United news, there’s been an update on Raphinha’s situation at Elland Road amid increased speculation.
