Leeds United must eye January move for Ben Brereton Diaz after golazo v Sunderland
Leeds United must stop their experiment and should focus on signing a striker in the January transfer window.
During the summer transfer window, the Whites wanted to sign a striker (even Jesse Marsch has admitted recently) but they were unable to land their desired targets.
While they did bolster other areas of the pitch, that department was left largely neglected.
The Whites did sign Wilfried Gnonto, but he was seen as a long-term player instead of someone who would make an immediate impact.
Rodrigo scored a few goals early this season, but his form drastically waned after the international break.
Patrick Bamford has returned from a long injury lay-off, but he needs competition and support. Joe Gelhardt is a promising talent, no doubt, but he should be properly developed.
Put simply, the club must invest in signing another striker in January, and that is why they must move for Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz.
The Whites were heavily linked with a move for the Chilean during the summer transfer window, and they remain keen on a deal for him in 2023, as per TeamTalk.
The Chile striker scored a fabulous goal against Sunderland in the Championship on Tuesday night (18 October), with Sky Sports describing it as “sheer class”.
He has got an excellent record for Rovers, and his contract is due to expire in June.
Instead of waiting to sign him for free next summer, Leeds must look to salvage their season by taking him on board in January instead.
His latest performance should put all doubts away that he can a smashing hit at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, this “remarkable” Leeds loanee was hailed by a controversial Sky Sports pundit at the weekend.
