Leeds United must act fast with Brennan Johnson after latest developments

Jesse Marsch should storm right to the Leeds United chiefs to get a deal for Brennan Johnson done after the most recent developments.

The Whites have been watching the Wales international very closely this season as Nottingham Forest look to return to the Premier League [Daily Mail].

Regardless of whether Steve Cooper’s side are promoted as they prepare for their Championship play-off final against Huddersfield – the 20-year-old will likely be playing in the topflight next season.

It is imperative that Leeds move quickly. Not only is the youngster facing interest from Newcastle United and Leicester City – Everton have now expressed their interest in Johnson too.

If Marsch and co don’t act quick, the attacking midfielder will undoubtedly be poached from right under their noses – something that simply can’t afford for their cheeky Premier League rivals to do.

Next season, Leeds should be in competition with the likes of Leicester, Newcastle and Everton but this time slightly higher up the table – hopefully.

This is why it is crucial that they don’t allow any of them to swoop in and steal their man.

Johnson would undoubtedly come in and make the squad better and for him to go and make a rival better would be a huge blow.

The starlet was been instrumental in the Championship last season, notching 28 goal involvements for Forest – those are some numbers for a youngster in his position playing in an extremely difficult league.

Johnson isn’t just a player for now – he is one for the future, a beacon of hope if you like amid Marsch’s rebuild of the squad.

If they get him through the doors at Elland Road, it would lift the whole mood around the club and hopefully, pave the way for a few more signings ahead of next season.
