Leeds United have to sign Ugurcan Cakir to replace Illan Meslier
Being the Leeds United goalkeeper this season hasn’t been a jealous position for many given the glut of chances conceded in the Premier League.
Illan Meslier though has come through the tough times with plenty of kudos to his name having made a number of fine saves to try and keep the Whites in games.
His epic displays between the sticks has even attracted the interest of Barcelona who are looking to overhaul their side [Mundo Deportivo].
Leeds are perhaps anticipating the Frenchman to leave as they have reportedly registered their own interest in Trabzonspor shot-stopper Ugurcan Cakir [Fanatik].
The 25-year-old is a Turkish international and Newcastle United are another Premier League side keen on signing him from the Super Lig.
But if the Whites are smart, they will allow Meslier to leave for sunny Spain and the Catalan giants because Cakir is having an even better season.
They also list each player’s strengths and weaknesses in more general terms and the most impressive part of Cakir’s report is that they have no weaknesses to mention.
The Turk’s concentration, long passing, reflexes and close range saving ability are the four areas WhoScored pick out as his best attributes which seems to suggest he is the complete goalkeeper already.
Concentration is something they highlight as a weakness for Meslier however although that is his only one.
He also only has one strength though, that being his long shot saving ability which is less important than some of Cakir’s strengths.
Everything points to the 25-year-old being the better keeper right now so if a deal presents itself, Leeds have to take it.
