Leeds United get Raphinha boost after latest Liverpool & Barcelona reports

Leeds United have received a huge boost in their bid to keep star winger Raphinha at the club amid interest from Barcelona and Liverpool [Express].

With the Catalonian giants struggling financially, the Whites are said to be holding all the cards on whether the Brazil international leaves Elland Road in the summer, as per Express.

Jurgen Klopp’s side is in the hunt to replace Sadio Mane with the 25-year-old tipped to be the man to go to Anfield. However, the Reds’ “genuine” interest in Benfica forward Darwin Nunez makes the chances of that very slim.

Transfer expert Alex Crook told talkSPORT: “We spoke about Liverpool earlier, about Sadio Mane and would they replace him.

“Darwin Nunez, there is genuine interest from Manchester United, but a deal for him is not as close as has been suggested in the Portuguese media.

“I received a text message from a trustworthy source on Friday that Liverpool are genuine contenders for him.”

Hold out.

Barcelona can’t afford to sign Raphinha so if they play their cards right, there is no way he will be playing in the La Liga next season.

Likewise, Liverpool won’t spend big on Nunez and dip into the market again for another expensive attacker – that is unheard of on the red half of Merseyside.

All Leeds need to do is hold their ground and they should be able to keep hold of Raphinha for another season.

With two years still left on his contract, there is absolutely no rush to sell him. Jesse Marsch can afford to keep him for another season, assess where the club and player are at and make a decision at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

His form isn’t likely to change that drastically where his value will drop significantly but having less time remaining on his contract would see him go for a little bit cheaper.

His 14 goal involvements in the Premier League were far too important to the team in the 2021/22 season and the Whites will undoubtedly need him again.
