Leeds United fans will be sweating after Kalvin Phillips injury scare

Leeds United fans will be sweating after the latest Kalvin Phillips injury scare whilst away on international duty with England – especially after his 2021/22 nightmare.

The midfielder was forced off after just 14 minutes of action in the Three Lions’ 1-1 draw with Germany on Tuesday night [June 9].

Thankfully, it was only a dead leg, but the Whites star gave everybody a scare by missing training on Friday [June 10] ahead of the Italy clash when he wasn’t involved in group training.

It was a huge boost when Phillips was on the bench to face the Italians at Molineux and he came through the game unscathed having been introduced in the 65th minute as he replaced West Ham ace Declan Rice.

The injury seems trivial now with it only being a dead leg but the Whites supporters were undoubtedly sweating and given his injury record in the 2021/22 campaign – they will likely be sweating for a little while longer as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

Pray.

Leeds fans will want their star man wrapped in cotton wool for the foreseeable future.

It is brilliant that he is able to blow some cobwebs off with some game time for England after hardly playing last season but he needs to be very careful.

The last thing Jesse Marsch needs is the 26-year-old reinjuring himself ahead of pre-season because everyone has seen his impact on the time.

The Elland Road outfit looks like a completely different side when he isn’t playing and their relegation scare last season, without him, only serves as proof.

Phillips remaining fit isn’t the only thing causing the Leeds fans to sweat – they will be praying he will still be at the club next season amid continuous links away.

According to The Daily Mail [June 11], the England international is ready to leave the club with Manchester City willing to pay £60million for his services.

It will take a miracle but hopefully, he is fully fit and in a Leeds shirt for the start of the 2022/23 season.
