Leeds United cannot focus on QPR winless run after what happened in Southampton shocker

Leeds United were finally enjoying a strong run under Daniel Farke for the very first time, with the Whites climbing the Championship standings last month.

But all of their hard work was undone on the very last day, with the West Yorkshire side losing 3-1 at Southampton on Saturday (30 September).

The result came as a surprise to many given the form of both clubs, with the Saints going into the game on a four-match winless run.

Not only was it a winless run, but Russell Martin’s men had lost all four of those games, with their confidence at rock bottom.

Leeds now have a perfect opportunity to recover from the loss when they face struggling QPR at Elland Road on Wednesday (4 October).

The visitors are in quite a rut themselves, with Gareth Ainsworth’s side going into the match in the same vein as Southampton did before their clash with Leeds, with QPR currently on a four-match winless run. Unlike the Saints, however, they do at least boast some positivity in that run, with two draws and two losses.

With the pressure on Ainsworth, he will certainly not want to extend the winless run to five matches, so Leeds can expect QPR to come fast out of the blocks on Wednesday.

But the Whites fans, having watched their side suffer a disappointing defeat to the Saints, will undoubtedly provide a hostile atmosphere in West Yorkshire.

Leeds had a shocker against Southampton, in every sense of the word, but all can be put right under the lights at Elland Road.
