Leeds should terminate Clarke loan deal
Leeds fans were torn about the Jack Clarke deal when it was announced he was joining Tottenham for £10m in the summer.
Some thought it wasn’t enough money. Some wanted him to stay and saw it as Leeds selling off their bright, young talent.
Others thought it was good business from Andrea Radrizzani.
Clarke was loaned back for this season but it doesn’t look like he’s going to get back into the first team. And the £10m looks like incredibly good business from Leeds now.
Part victim of Leeds having six loan stars and only five places in the squad, and part victim of his own poor form, Clarke is now back in the Under-23s, where he was before he broke into the first team in an exciting period last season.
It must be really hard for Clarke. He’s getting stick from the fans who think the move to Tottenham has gone to his head.
That’s unfair. He’s only 18 years old and it’s easy to forget this.
However, not getting in the Leeds squad won’t be doing his confidence any good at all and we think it’s time to shake hands and move on. Tottenham can find him a new club in January and hopefully he can rediscover his form and make a success of his obvious talent.
It would be a real shame if his career fizzled out now and Leeds can play their part by agreeing with Spurs to terminate his deal with immediate effect.
