Leeds predicted XI v Man United
Marcelo Bielsa has left a chunk of first-team players at home as Leeds prepare for their pre-season friendly against Man United in Australia on Wednesday.
New signings Helder Costa, Ben White, Liam McCarron, Jack Clarke, Ezgjan Alioski, Mateusz Klich, and Jamie Shackleton have all missed out on the trip Down Under.
It means that while Bielsa can still name a strong starting XI, it likely won’t be the one that he puts out against Bristol City in the opening game of the Championship.
We expect Kiko Casilla to be the number one this season and he should start against Man United, but we’re hoping Bielsa has curbed his tendency to go walkabouts.
The back four that played against York is likely to be the same one that lines up against Man United – that’s Barry Douglas at left-back, Stuart Dallas on the right (Luke Ayling has a knock and didn’t travel), with Gateano Berardo and Liam Cooper in the middle.
Kalvin Phillips has travelled and should start in his defensive midfield position, with Jack Harrison on the left, Pablo Hernandez on the right and Adam Forshaw through the middle.
Is there room in a Bielsa side for both Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe? They both played against York and if they both play against Man United then the answer, as far as the Championship goes, could be a positive one. Hopefully, fans will give Bamford a chance and there won’t be any more of the booing that was evident in the first pre-season friendly.
