Leeds fans react to official Derby tweet

Derby County’s official Twitter page tried to put the cat among the pigeons again today, by adding eyes and popcorn emojis to a story about the new Leeds documentary subtitled with, “Ending is clearly disappointing”.

The story, from the Derby Telegraph, was referring to the Take Us Home documentary that is set for release on Amazon Prime Video at midnight tonight.

Derby, if anyone had forgotten, put Leeds out of the play-off semi-final and helped stop the documentary ending on the high of promotion.

The trouble with the tweet is that it forgets that Derby went on to lose in the play-off final to Aston Villa, after their players and manager had celebrated like they’d won promotion by beating Leeds.

The other problem with it is that it comes across as childish and unnecessary, and it just serves to stir the fans up again after all the problems of Spygate last season.

Leeds fans were quick to point out some home truths to the Derby account, namely that they’re still playing in the same division as Leeds and that they lost their manager to Chelsea over the summer.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans:
