Leeds fans react to Caicedo tweet

Leeds have been linked with Lazio striker Felipe Caicedo on a number of occasions, as far back as last summer when it was reported by the Italian press (via talkSPORT) that the Ecuador international favoured a move to Elland Road.

They’ve surfaced again this summer, with Italian outlet Imperio stating that Marcelo Bielsa is very keen on the 30-year-old.

So far, so standard, but Caicedo himself has got a number of Leeds fans very excited with his latest tweet, that simply reads “El locooo”.

The former Man City player – he signed for £6.3m in 2008 and scored seven goals in 35 games – moved to Lazio from Espanyol two years ago in a £2.25m move and is out of contract next summer.

He scored eight goals in Serie A last season from 28 appearances and got another in the Europa League against Marseille.

It might be a leap to suggest that he’s endorsing a move to Elland Road with a tweet that alludes to Marcelo Bielsa’s nickname, but that hasn’t stopped a section of the Leeds fanbase jumping to conclusions.

With Kemar Roofe out for four weeks with an ankle injury and Patrick Bamford misfiring, a new striker would be welcome at Elland Road. And a former Man City player with a 22/68 record for his country would fit the bill nicely.

Is it likely to happen? There’s absolutely no proof but that hasn’t stopped these Leeds fans from dreaming:
