Leeds fans react as Saiz exit is confirmed
Leeds United have confirmed that Samuel Saiz has joined Spanish side Girona on a permanent deal.
It was announced via Leeds’ official website on Thursday that Saiz, 28, has left Elland Road for an “undisclosed fee” which has been reported to be £2.5million by BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Adam Pope.
Saiz burst onto the scene in the Championship when he joined the Whites from Huesca in 2017.
He scored nine goals and supplied eight assists in 37 appearances across all competitions in his debut season at Elland Road, but once Marcelo Bielsa was appointed as manager, it all started to go backwards for the Spanish playmaker.
Saiz informed Leeds that he wanted to quit the Championship club in January [Yorkshire Evening Post] and as a result, he was shipped out on loan to Getafe, where the midfielder managed to earn just two La Liga starts and failed to convince them to turn his temporary stay into a permanent one by the time the summer came around.
In May, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Saiz found himself at the centre of match-fixing allegations in his home nation as his season went from bad to worse.

It is no surprise that Leeds fans are now happy to see the back of the once-promising midfielder.
Saiz lit up Elland Road with his performances in 2017/18, but that could not have been further from the truth a year later and it appears to be in the best interests of everyone that the 28-year-old is no longer a Leeds United player.
Here is what some Leeds fans are saying about Saiz’s confirmed exit on Twitter:
Good, that's one situation that needed sorting out once and for all. Such a shame.

Good ridance. Guy was a waste of rations. We might be in the EPL if he hadn’t thrown his toys out of the pram
