Leed fans loving Becchio montage
Sky Bet gave Leeds fans a treat on Tuesday when their former striker Luciano Becchio came out on top of their latest #LegendsOfEFL poll.
Becchio beat out both Billy Sharp and Edgar Davids to top the Twitter poll and Sky Bet posted a montage of his best bits for the club.
The now-retired striker signed for Leeds on a free transfer in 2008 from Spanish club Merida UD and quickly became a cult hero.
He stayed at Elland Road for four-and-a-half years, scoring 86 goals in 219 appearances across the Championship and League One, and while there weren’t too many good times for Leeds after the club’s relegation from the Premier League, Becchio provided some of the very best.
Fans loved the passion of the Argentinian that spilled over when he was interviewed by Sky Sports after a 2-1 win against Middlesbrough (warning NSFW).
And one of his most famous goals was the one that brought Leeds level in the 2009 League One play-off semi-final against Millwall, after Jermaine Beckford missed a penalty.
“Becchio well placed,” was all the commentator needed to say with the Leeds fans erupting as the goal went in, with comms going on to say, “Well, the roof has just been lifted off Elland Road… What an incredible noise we are witnessing here.”
Millwall, unfortunately, equalised on the day to deny Leeds a shot at the Wembley final.
Becchio left Leeds in 2013 to try his luck in the Premier League with Norwich where his career started to nosedive.
But he will always be a hero at Elland Road and the current crop of Leeds fans were thrilled with the Becchio montage the poll victory gave them.
🤷♂️ You asked for it…
"Costs less than Berbatov, and he scores more goals!" 🎵

Becchio was brilliant. Should have never left for Norwich (where all LUFC players go to end their careers!)
