Jesse Marsch shares what Leeds United desperately need, Victor Orta must take note
Leeds United will be looking to get back to winning ways when they face Leicester City away from home in their next Premier League game on Thursday (20 October).
The Whites are without a win since August, and they are heading into this tie after suffering back-to-back defeats in the league.
While the Whites are playing well, they just can’t get those three points to boost their confidence.
When asked today (19 October) in the press conference, what Leeds need to do to turn the situation, Marsch replied – “Goals. We need more goals.”
It’s a strong message, to the team, and to Victor Orta.
Goals will win you matches, and the Whites are struggling to find the net. Wingers and attacking midfielders can chip in goals here and there, but it’s the job of the striker to score regularly.
Leeds missed Patrick Bamford badly through injuries, but he has just returned. Rodrigo started the season strongly, but he has suffered a dip in form after the international break.
Joe Gelhardt is still very raw and it’s unfair to put massive faith on him to score 10-15 goals a season. He is not ready yet. The same can be said about Wilfried Gnonto.
Is it a clear message to Orta?
Leeds need to sign a striker, someone who can score plenty of goals, and win matches for the club.
They tried their best in the summer but failed to land their targets. Marsch has made it clear what his side is lacking at the moment.
Leeds can enjoy a fantastic season, if they start getting goals. Over to Orta to get find a top striker for the club in January.
