'Insane', 'Turned into Ronaldo' - Many int'l fans hail 'excellent' Leeds ace in Thursday display
A number of Wales fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts for his display against England on Thursday evening.
The 21-year-old won his eighth cap for his country at an empty Wembley and shone brightly in the early stages in a relatively unfamiliar role on the right flank.
Roberts looked sharp from the outset, and caused a whole host of problems for the Three Lions’ defence with his smart movement and positive running.
The versatile attacker then moved into a more central role when Kieffer Moore went off injured, and again, he looked more than capable.
Some fans supporters even felt the need to compare him to Ronaldo – and whether they meant R9 or CR7, it’s some compliment either way.
From a Leeds’ perspective, however, it probably came as something of a pleasant surprise given the form we’ve seen from Roberts so far this term.
For his club, the youngster’s total action success rate is down 11.5% on last season, his dribble success rate is down 11%, and he is still yet to have a shot on goal in five outings, as per Wyscout.
But if he can bring even a semblance of the spark that he showed against England on Thursday, then he will surely start to turn to a corner in the Premier League.
Once again, Roberts hinted that there is a real player in there somewhere, he just needs to show is quality with more regularity.
Here are some of the best tweets from impressed Wales fans:
