If Roofe goes, Leeds must get Gayle
Kemar Roofe looks like he could be on his way, with a move to Anderlecht said to be “imminent” by Jim White.
That was the shock news that the talkSPORT host delivered on Friday morning (10.40am).
If the deal does go through we can only presume that Leeds have a readymade replacement in mind. Not replacing the club’s top scorer days before the Championship starts would be unthinkable.
Roofe is injured and out for the next three weeks at least so his departure won’t have an immediate effect on Bielsa’s plans.
But a 20-goal striker is what Leeds fans will be expecting and is what the club needs.
There is one player out there who fits the bill.

Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle is unlikely to get much game-time next season after the club-record signing of Joelinton.
He’s been prolific in the Championship – 23 last season for West Brom and 23 in the 16/17 season for Newcastle. By contrast he only scored six in the Premier League for Newcastle in the 17/18 season.
He should be available and he would be an upgrade on Roofe. If Roofe goes, this is the man who Marcelo Bielsa must demand as his replacement.
Plenty of Leeds fans feel the same way too:
Dont care as long as hes replaced.
Sell Roofe and loan in Gayle… your team is better. #lufc https://t.co/aND3tw268H

If Roofe moves to Anderlecht – good luck to him. #Leeds should have wrapped his contact up months ago. Use the money and get Kent and Gayle. Not sure this will happen. Also, new players will have missed the Bielsa murder ball training sessions. #lufc Worrying tbh
