Fabinho set to miss Liverpool game as huge doubts cast on Raphinha's Leeds United participation
Brazil midfielder Fabinho is highly doubtful that he will play for Liverpool on Saturday in comments that will cause concern for Leeds United over Raphinha.
In a video shared on Sky Sports’ Twitter account, the Liverpool star believes he and goalkeeper Alisson are unlikely to feature in the Premier League this weekend with Brazil in action the day before Saturday, when Liverpool play Watford and Leeds make the trip to Southampton.
“I believe that this first (Liverpool) match against Watford it will be very hard for us,” Fabinho said. “I don’t think we will play, neither Alisson nor myself.
“The match against Uruguay will be overnight there (in the United Kingdom) and the match against Watford will be half past noon. With all of what is involved, travel, I don’t know how much time we will have between one game and another.
“I believe that we won’t be playing. We will also need to quarantine.”
Raphinha absent v Saints?
This isn’t good news for Leeds.
The Whites play Southampton at three o’clock on Saturday, just 150 minutes after Liverpool kick-off at Watford.
If Fabinho is marking himself and Alisson as huge doubts for Liverpool this weekend, the same surely has to be applied to Raphinha and Leeds.
The Whites winger is set for his first Brazil start against Uruguay after making his international debut last week, and thus there are many issues surrounding the 24-year-old’s participation on the south coast.
There are quarantine concerns, as noted by Fabinho, while there is a great deal of risk attached to playing two high-intensity games within the space of two days.
Flying around the globe is also likely to take its toll on the players, despite the comfort in which they might travel.
In other Leeds United news, George Galloway has slammed this Whites player in a thinly-veiled Elland Road dig.
