Daniel Farke faces potential Leeds United blow in January as Phil Hay shares Crysencio Summerville news
Leeds United were said to be transparently open to offers for Crysencio Summerville over the summer and his recent form could spell bad news for Daniel Farke in January.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay shared on 23 October, that Leeds were said to be transparently open to offers for the high-flying Dutchman over the summer.
Burnley made a late offer that was rejected, while Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Feyenoord were also taking a look at whether to make an approach for the winger.
Writing in his latest column for The Athletic on Monday 23 October, Hay shared an insight into the summer developments regarding the flying winger.
“Burnley came for Summerville late in the window but Leeds fended them off, without giving him much chance to argue,” he wrote.
“It was a complete change of stance from their position at the start of June when, in the case of Summerville, they were transparently open to offers.
“A bid arriving from Turf Moor then could easily have played out differently.”
It’s believed that Summerville was advised by those around him to stick it at Elland Road and it seems as if the Leeds United gem is reaping that decision right now with some stunning displays, especially at Carrow Road on Saturday.
As per SofaScore, the Dutchman deservedly picked up the best average rating of any player on the pitch at 9.4/10 but it was his all-round display at Carrow Road which highlighted why he is one of the first names on the teamsheet and Farke’s main man at Elland Road.
Summerville recorded a whopping six key passes throughout his 89 minutes on the pitch, successfully completed five of his six dribbles, won eight of his duels, registered four shots, 11 touches in the Norwich City penalty area, seven passes into the final third and recovered the ball five times in a complete performance.
With a couple of the above clubs desperate for attacking quality right now in their arsenal, including Crystal Palace, it may not be a surprise to see clubs such as the Eagles firm up their interest in the Dutchman.
The Premier League is always an attractive league for Championship stars and given Summerville certainly has unfinished business in the division, Farke could be left with another transfer blow in the January window.
The Elland Road youngster has morphed into such a pivotal component so far, which makes a potential exit in the winter absolutely unthinkable.
In other Leeds United news, Jon Newsome was full of praise for one player in particular against Norwich.
