Cody Drameh needs Leeds United senior promotion to fend off Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund

There are fewer more patient players at Leeds United than Cody Drameh but even his patience may be wearing thin due to the lack of games.

The 20-year-old has had to sit on the sidelines and watch while Rasmus Kristensen, a summer signing from RB Salzburg, has played almost every game in his right-back position and Luke Ayling has come in whenever the Dane has been unavailable.

He has been a regular for the Whites’ Under-21s side this season but he spent last campaign on loan at Cardiff City in the Championship where he was hailed after a brilliant run of form in the Welsh capital.

His lack of games is seemingly testing his patience now and with the Daily Mail reporting on 11 November that Newcastle United and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund are both tracking him, it could be a key turning point in his Leeds career.

Drameh was very vocal about wanting to leave under Marcelo Bielsa despite the Argentine’s desire to keep him as a backup last season but he forced his way to Cardiff.

With the same scenario now presenting itself once more at Elland Road, it would not be a surprise to see him kick up a fuss once more and try to force through a move away from Thorp Arch in January.

If Jesse Marsch wants to prevent that from happening then when the squad returns from the World Cup post-Christmas, he has to start giving him considerable minutes and start making tough choices regarding both Kristensen and Ayling.

The England youth international is far too good to be shackled to Under-21 football and he knows that himself so if he does not get the playing time his talent warrants then he should absolutely try to force a move away from the club regardless of the promises they might try to make for him.

In other Leeds United news, this teenage sensation at Thorp Arch is very close to getting a surprise international call-up in the coming days.
