Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos signing will be statement from Leeds United

Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in making a move for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos this summer, according to 90min.

The Whites have been in the market to sign a player to strengthen the attacking department ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

It is because of this reason they’ve been linked with a number of players including Charles De Ketelaere who ended up joining AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)’s Arnaud Kalimuendo who ended up joining Stade Rennais.

As per the latest report, Leeds have now turned their attention towards Ramos who has also been attracting interest from Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Everton, West Ham and Wolves.

Leeds United came into the transfer window hoping to strengthen their squad with more than one option in every position.

With less than three weeks remaining in the transfer window, they are still short on the attacking front where they have only one out-and-out striker in Patrick Bamford who struggled with injury concerns in the previous campaign.

Therefore, making a move for someone as highly-rated as Ramos, who according to the report is likely to cost around £30million, is a must-signing.

The 21-year-old has been a Benfica academy product and was promoted to the senior team in the summer of 2020.

Since then, he has represented his current club in 62 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score 17 times and provided seven assists in the process [Transfermarkt].

In the ongoing season, he has already netted three times and provided a similar amount of assists in just three matches across all competitions.

In other Leeds United news, Jeff Stelling has predicted the result as the Whites head to the south coast for their clash with Southampton.
