Adam Crafton blasts Andrea Radrizzani on Twitter after controversial move by Leeds United owner
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has been criticised for the timing of his deal to purchase Italian club Sampdoria by the Athletic journalist Adam Crafton.
News emerged late on Tuesday (30 May) that a group led by Radrizzani had thrashed out a deal to purchase the club, who are rock bottom of Serie A.
It came just two days after Leeds’ relegation to the Championship was confirmed, following an ill-fated four-game reign under Sam Allardyce.
Quote-tweeting Phil Hay’s confirmation of Radrizzani’s announcement, Crafton wrote on Twitter: “On balance of his tenure there are points that can be made in Radrizzani’s defence but really don’t see how you come back from swanning off to buy a club in Italy on the weekend your club is being relegated by a 3-week interim coach with a backroom staff that met at Soccer Aid.”
Sell up and move on Andrea
At a time when rumours and tittle-tattle are rife, one fact is indisputable. Leeds United are back in the Championship.

Whatever external noise is going on in the background right now cannot sugar coat that the 2022-23 campaign was an unmitigated disaster from a recruitment point of view.
Radrizzani reportedly had a deal in place with 49ers Enterprises to sell his remaining shares in Leeds if the club remained in the Premier League. A renegotiated deal is reportedly still in the works for that to happen.
And frankly, now, there has to be a swift and satisfactory resolution for Leeds, who also need clarity on who will be the long-term manager and who will come in as director of football following Victor Orta’s exit.
To be in this situation a mere fortnight before the opening of the transfer window is frankly absurd. But, that is the reality. The first thing that needs to happen is Radrizzani needs to sell up and let someone else have a crack.
In other Leeds news, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly extremely interested in signing one Leeds United forward.
