49ers Enterprise invested more in Leeds United as Premier League season nears end - Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Dan Plumley has insisted that it is no surprise to see the growing 49ers Enterprise influence at Elland Road as Leeds United continue their relegation dogfight.

Paraag Marathe was spotted at Elland Road for the 1-0 win against Southampton, with his appearance in line with the deadline growing closer for the £500million takeover.

Finance expert, Plumley admitted that staying in the Premier League is critical to that takeover and the value of the club, something the 49ers will be watching closely.

“It absolutely does, we talk about each goal and each win now,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“We know each place in the Premier League is worth around £2million in prize money, so even if you finish one place higher, that has an impact on the revenue line.

“Obviously, with the situation that Leeds are in, that could be the difference between survival and relegation. We have said before, relegation would be, not catastrophic in terms of that deal but certainly a blow because obviously, Leeds United are worth much more as a Premier League football club and the 49ers can extract more value from their side of things with Leeds as a Premier League football club.

“So, as that deadline moves closer and towards the end of the season as well, on the pitch becomes increasingly important so it’s not a surprise to see them invested at this stage in a physical sense as well and wanting that team to stay up.”

Dropping into the Championship can take £100million of your value overnight due to broadcasting revenue, so it would be a very big blow.

Leeds stayed up on the final day of the Premier League last season and will be hoping to escape their current troubles much earlier than that this time around.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
